“ The head waitress was knowledgeable about food allergies (I am gluten free). I had an awesome egg white omelet and home-fries. It's super cute in here and the staff is very friendly. I would definitely recommend it! For my celiac friends, just be careful of cross contamination that's the only concern. ”
“ I have good allergies and the main waitress was knowledgeable. I had a great egg white omelet and potatoes. I am gluten free and did great, but I'm not sure if they understand cross contamination. That would be the only warning for my celiac friends. ”
“ Great food and nice vibe...Everyone was helpful and friendly while being extremely busy. ”
“ The food was excellent and the portions were just as good. I am a big eater and I left full and satisfied. ”
“ This review might be a little split. I originally gave the place three stars (well, 3.5 stars). However, I bumped it up to a four because the reasons for the three probably was a one-off situation. We primarily stopped by Yoolks On Us because it was the first thing that popped up from our Yelp breakfast search. Upon entering the restaurant, I was quite happy with the general down-home, casual vibe with great R&B music playing in the background. BTW, I had no idea that plastic Mason jars exist. The restaurant has a pretty nice mix of breakfast items, with decent prices, especially for a sit-down restaurant. For my meal, I went with a sausage egg, cheese sandwich, which came with a side of homefries. The sandwich was about $9 with an extra charge ($0.70-$1) for cheese. Since most folks probably will get these sandwiches with cheese, perhaps, the restaurant should just have the regular price include cheese and have the customer request no cheese should they choose. I thought the food came out fast and was pretty good, so no complaints about the food quality. Also my breakfast and homefries came with generous portions so the price point definitely is on point. I thought the service was very good. Our waitress was super friendly and took great care to get our order correct. I really appreciate waiters/waitresses who repeat their customers' orders just to make sure: 1. they have the order correct and (probably more important) 2. the customer knows exactly what they order. A couple of things that kind of got on my nerves. The restaurant charged a 4% service fee for using a credit / debit card. I get that this probably is a small family owned business, and those little charges add up. Sometimes, with these little charges, I feel the restaurant just should build these type of charges into the menu prices. In this day and age, I would say probably 90% of folks pay with some type of card. The next issue probably was just a blip, but the restaurant did not have heat during our visit. Had this been a summer or spring day, I guess this would not have been a problem. However, we visited on a cold, 30F January morning. It's somewhat difficult for me to really enjoy my food when I'm shivering or when I have to eat while wearing a heavy coat. In addition to it being cold (due to the faulty heating system), the restaurant was pretty drafty. So, anytime my body kind of reheated itself, the draft would cool me down. ;) Even though we did not ask, our waitress let us know that the heating system went down earlier in the day. So, it was kind of cool (no pun intended) that she informed us about the situation and apologized for it. Ok, I'll leave the heating issue alone because this was something that was out of the restaurant's control, and these things tend to happen from time to time. Also, I'll say that the staff of the restaurant handled this situation to the best of its ability. Overall, I would not mind giving Yooks On Us another shot especially because the food was decent, and the prices were pretty good for a sit-down restaurant. ”
“ Fantastic find! Service was good and we were checked on periodically. The menu is not overwhelming and they offer all the regular breakfast items and some other great less traditional options, like catfish and grits. Parking is interesting but, it's not bad enough to warrant taking a star away. Will definitely be added to our rotation! ”
“ Our food was on point and fresh. The owner is really nice and our server was great. It's again another local spot that gives that hometown feel. The music was great and not too loud but elevated the experience. I had biscuits and gravy, fried catfish which was fresh, as well as a crab cake. Now I was expecting more lump crab than claw meat if you're like me and don't prefer the claw meat then the crab cake is not for you. However I will say it didn't have much filler which is a good thing. Definitely a nice place to try and it's black owned! ”
“ We just moved to town, and wanted to try out this restaurant. We are happy we came in. It looks as if it's newer, they definitely need to make some renovations inside of the building, but the restaurant itself was clean. The restrooms do need a little bit of servicing, but other than that we did like the atmosphere with the music, and our server she was very nice. I ordered the pancake combo, I got the one with blueberries in it, and my husband got the Greek Benedict, add salmon. Our potatoes were delicious, my bacon wasn't as crispy as I had asked for, and my husband originally got grits, and they were not very good, so he replaced them with the potatoes. They came out very fresh and hot. I did really enjoy my pancakes, and the eggs were fine. One thing I will say that needs to be communicated to its customers from this restaurant, is that there is a 20% gratuity automatically added onto your bill whether it's two of you one person, or a party of six. Although my husband and I always tip at least 20% for good service, if the principal that that should be communicated, and also be more of a choice rather than a forced situation. That definitely caught me by surprise due to the fact that it was just the two of us. Overall, I did enjoy my experience, we will definitely be headed back. ”
“ This was my first time going here and definitely won't be my last. They are super busy so plan to wait to be seated, but the food is worth the wait! They have mimosas and a full bar so I tried the poinsettia (cranberry mimosa)...a good balance of juice and champagne. They also have a jumbo pitcher version, which can be shared with your table. I tried the shrimp and grits and added a side of turkey sausage patties and a side of collards. I got the shrimp and grits sans cheese. It was delicious!! Halfway through my meal, I added the remaining sausage and collards to my bowl and it was delicious!! The collards had good flavor. They have a good variety of seating, and can seat probably about 40-50 people comfortably. There are 2 guys in the kitchen and they do a great job getting the food out! The service was okay. You may have to remind your server what you need, but I'd still go back. Check it out!! ”
